My transition

My transition was very short term. My last relaxer was in late April '08, and then I did my big chop in June. I had about 1/2 inch or so of new growth. My transition was so short because I had tried to do a long transition in 2006 and I had a difficult time dealing with the two textures after 3 months which lead me to relax instead of following through. I knew that if I went all out with an early BC, then there would be no turning back. Also, this time I did better research to prepare myself for what to do and expect with natural hair, and I was finally ready to let go of my relaxed ends which had lost their value to me.

Often women opt to do a long term transition so they do not have to go through a short hair phase.

Natural Reflections!!

Hey, ya'll! As of today, I have been fully natural for 6 whole months! Started out with my 1/2 inch TWA, and through trial and error, I found out what routine and products my hair likes the best. I had to get used to having super short hair after having long hair all of my life. I got used to having nappy hair in a society where most others are trying to have straight hair.

In future posts, I will talk about the following:

1. Why I went natural
2. Things to consider before going natural/What to expect
3. Different ways to transition
4. How to maintain healthy hair
5. Product reviews/recommendations
6. My routine
7. Styles
8. Promoting healthy growth

and more!

This blog is for anyone who is natural or who is considering switching over.
